About the artist

Vanessa Caroli

Vanessa Caroli is a Venezuelan-born, self-taught abstract painter living and working in Nottingham, United Kingdom. She paints in acrylic on canvas, using palette knives, mark-making and a range of unconventional tools to build surfaces that feel layered, alive and quietly emotional.

Her practice is intuitive and exploratory. Each painting is built up through colour, rhythm, movement and texture — an unhurried search for moments of joy, calm, spontaneity and freedom. She thinks of every work as a small landscape of feeling, made to live with and return to.

Vanessa has exhibited in the United Kingdom and internationally, and her paintings are held in private collections across the UK, Europe and South America.

I paint to find stillness. My work is about following colour and rhythm wherever they want to go — letting joy, calm and emotion arrive on the canvas without forcing them. I want each painting to feel like a quiet room you can step into.

Acrylic, palette knife, mark-making

A self-taught practice built on experiment — acrylic on canvas, palette knives, unconventional tools, and a slow exploration of joy, calm, spontaneity, freedom, emotion and rhythm.
